UDIs will power a digital future
You may have seen bar codes popping up in all sorts of medical devices and supplies in the last several years, including 2D barcodes on the SteriTite® Universal Sealed Container System. Maybe you’ve heard about how these unique device identifiers will eventually help streamline complex work processes, eliminate human error, and record important device information with a simple scan. This concept is now a reality—in the form UDIs.
Case Medical has embraced UDIs in our products
We at Case Medical have embraced the purpose of UDI by laser marking a UDI barcode on the latch of every SteriTite container to uniquely identify the individual container, rather than representing an entire production lot number like other container systems. We have also put UDI barcodes on our case carts and offer UDI tray tags and ID plaques. These UDIs are registered with the FDA to ensure that they are completely unique, which means that they can be used and integrated with a wide range of applications.

UDIs and instant information
Case Medical has integrated our UDIs with our software, CaseTrak360, which can make use of UDIs to identify sets that are used with it. Scanning a UDI in CaseTrak360 can instantly bring up set information, pictures, videos, count sheets, and IFUs. Furthermore, the UDI can be used to track the history of a set; what procedures it was used in, how it was reprocessed, how it was stored, and more, all without patient data. The UDI can be used to pull detailed reports, give information for infection prevention, and can prevent reprocessing errors with alerts and warnings.
You already have UDIs if you have SteriTite
If you have a Case Medical SteriTite container, you already have a UDI system. You are already halfway to a fully intelligent, paperless, digital tracking system. You can see the power of the UDI on your container right now by going to the IFU scanning application on Case Medical’s website at this link. Simply scan your container’s UDI in the software and it will instantly pull up your container’s IFU. It will also present the UDI to you, in human readable format, so you can see the information contained in it like the container’s lot number and manufacturing date. Imagine what a system like this could do for your facility.

Case Medical has developed the smartest container and the most intuitive instrument tracking program. Together they are integral pillars of our 360 degree approach to instrument processing. They can help your facility transition away from paper, while improving SPD efficiency and OR utilization. Reach out to us at info@casemed.com to schedule a demo with us today.
