AI In The News

Recently, the news has been full of stories about AI. There has been much speculation about what the future holds for AI, and what that means for human workers. There have also been wild exaggerations about what AI is capable of, including the current capabilities of AI as a whole. Many would be surprised to learn that AI is not new, and advanced AI has been around for almost 10 years now. AI is present in almost everything we interact with on a daily basis; from banking systems, to social media, to shopping platforms. AI is generating headlines because it represents a new milestone for AI: intuitive human conversation. Just think about what that can do in the healthcare environment and what that means for data security.

AI Is Already Everywhere

You interact with AI on a daily basis without even realizing it. When you search for something on Google, purchase something online, or post something on social media, highly sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms analyze that data and make detailed predictions about your interests, wants/needs, upcoming life events, and more. The ultimate goal of all of this is to create smart, targeted marketing to make you buy things. AI is also used in financial institutions to check banking records, make predictions on market trends/moves, it is used to analyze ratings for TV shows, by the government to look at population statistics, and much more. So when you hear someone express their fear about AI and what the future holds, remind them that AI is everywhere already.

AI and Chat GPT In Healthcare

The potential for AI, in healthcare is huge. It can assist with clinical decision support by providing real-time, evidence-based recommendations such as flagging potential drug interactions, suggesting treatment options for a specific condition, and providing relevant clinical guidelines. It could also be used to summarize patient medical histories, effectively streamlining the record-keeping process. Chat GPT is the new AI that everyone has been talking about for the following reasons: It can be dictated to, like how a doctor would dictate to an intern, further aiding the recording keeping process. Chat GPT’s advanced language processing capabilities could be used to quickly and accurately translate technical terms and medical jargon; ensuring patients fully understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and medical instructions.

AI and Case Medical

At Case Medical we also aim to take advantage of the benefits of AI. We are developing image recognition platforms to help with QC on our production floor. Systems that can help flag defects and check for accuracy. That will also translate into our CaseTrak360 tracking software, where these tools can be used to identify missing or damaged items in a set. The goal is to improve the speed and efficiency for all of us that use these systems whether in a healthcare facility, or in a company like Case Medical that makes medical devices and solutions to meet your needs. In-house, our QC staff will be able to make quicker and more accurate decisions about manufactured components. In a healthcare setting with CaseTrak360, SPD technicians will be able to process and repackage sets faster and get them to the OR without delay and certainly reduced errors.
